That was Porsche battering them out quickly to meet homologation in 1969. They had to make 25 identical examples to use the rule loophole, so they were not classified as prototypes (and therefore limited to 3L)

They did and lined them up outside the works for the inspectors as a bit of a 2 fingered salute. Didn't go down well, so the rules were changed so they only got a couple of years racing the things. Bloody shame - the best sports racers of all time IMHO.

What gets me though is that forged Titanium driveshafts with a rubber donut connector in... Why bother with Ti when all you have passing all the torque to those monster rears is an old elan donut?
