Back home :( But we'll be back :)

Post by YvoTuk » Mon May 21, 2007 2:01 pm

We just got off the Ferry from Newcastle, back to work, back to the daily routine :(

But we had a GREAT week out in Scotland :thumbsup A huge THANK YOU to Tut for offering a great evening and leading us over the backroads. A great blast that was!

How's the battery doing Tut?

First driving day was soaked, second day some rain, but constantly in clouds, rest of the days we've seen a lot of sun. All of us have tanned quite heavily :)

Despite some communication errors on the saterday night, we met Mac, Dominic and a couple others (sorry, can't remember all the names ;)) Thanks for the tips guys, we thought reaching Glasgow would be end of the fun, but we had a stunning blast through the borders.. WOW, what a scenery and what a roads.

Why would any of you want to do Stelvio? You've got all you need in your backgarden!

We'll be planning... to come back, possibly even as a replacement for our annual Stelvio crusade :D

I'm afraid one car got a little crunched.. One of the guys (Ferry) took all the bad luck of the week in his seven. First the headlamps exploded due to all water, then the seal of the oilfilter gave up. Found a replacement in Oban and got running again. He then took some fuel.. DIESEL  the first Diesel Seven I suppose.. Last, but certainly not least, while following Tut on the way to Tut Towers, he steered the front over a mid-corner bump and lost it.. into a wall. Bye bye Seven :(
I think he's convinced he'll need to buy an Elise now..

Anyway, thanks to all who gave us tips etc. We'll be back!!! <BG>

Good to hear you had a good run down to Newcastle on Sunday. It was good to meet you all on sat evening.... next time we'll book a restaurant

We had a look at the cars in the car park on our way out.... they all looked very cool. First white S1 I have seen, and it looked great! The S1 (Yours?) with the motorsport front clam looked great too 8)

yup, he's gutted, but I think -in his case- it's a lot better for him to buy an Elise.

The Seven is quite an old car, doesn't have seatbelts, doesn't have anti rollbar etc. etc. Although I fully trust his driving, he only needs one loony to be at the wrong side of the road to kill him :(

I met up with the Group at Tomintoul on Friday afternoon to bring them back via the best roads. Unfortunately, at the bridge between Dufftown and Rhynie, Ferry in his Lotus 7 made contact with his right front suspension on the wall.

Out came the tools, we pulled up a metal fence post, and his front wheels were levered, spannered, back about parallel, and he continued on to Old Deer. However I believe that there is a ripple in the chassis. It is a lovely original Lotus 7 and is now in the drive awaiting the AA to ship it back to Holland.

As Verian is away for a family gathering, they did not get the usual looking after of a home cooked dinner, but we ordered a good Chinese take away in, and consumed a lot of alcohol.

For which, many thanks for the generous donation Yvo, much appreciated.

They were a good bunch of enthusiasts, but not much good with showers. Early risers as well, Rob was in our powere shower at 0600, but had not done the course, and had a cold one. Graham used the electric shower, well he would have done if he could have turned it on. He sort of missed the big red switch that said shower power.

I went with them on Saturday morning via the back roads as far as Ballater, then said goodbye, and went over to Wallace Performance in Aberdeen to join up with Craig and Scotty for a R/R power run. However the queue was too long and I had to get back to feed the boys, so I missed out on mine. Will do it at a later date.

Tis suck it and see regarding rain at any time of the year, witness the downpour for 20 mins when Ferry had his accident, but September can still be fine, and evenings are light.

You are all welcome back at tut towers at any time.
