Anyone ever been ???

I have my honeymoon coming up early next month and we'll be touring down to Nice (vence to be exact) for the 1st 10days before moving on else where. We are looking to head onto the Italian riviera for the remainder of the break.

The following areas have popped up....

San Remo
Savona
Genova

Anyone been or recommend others ???

cheers.

PS I will be taking the Audi so some tasty routes would be wasted :D

As Mac says, St Maxime / Port Grimaud is great, as are places like Cassis (plus all the beautiful in land hilltop villages. Menton is also nice - great and close to Monte Carlo.

If you're heading for the Liguria (The Italian Riveria), enjoy the towns and villages up to San Remo, but after, my recollection is that things get even busier and more industrial (Genoa is actual a busy oil port and I can't remember much to recommend it).

If you're looking for other highlights, head towards to italian lakes or stay near the Gorge du Verdon (but you won't have your Lotus, so it won;t be a s good as it could be !!).

Whatever you do have fun - it's your Honeymoon for gawd's sake !

Cheers for all the info guys, contemplating the following....

With staying in nice we'll pay the usual visits to cannes, st tropez, monte carlo etc. then possibly head to Diana marino in Italy, pop down to Pisa, back up to Lake Garda then home. May cut pisa out of the visit though give us more time at Lake Garda.

A total of 2700 miles excluding min trips in between, will be an easy 3k miles, I'm glad I bought a Diesel ! Although I'm lucky if I get 480miles to a tank (£60)

Do not know how close you are going to Bologna but would recommend some automotive excursions:

Ducati museum is great, not done Moto Guzzi factory at the Lakes its seemingly interesting, other options would be Maranella and obviously the Pagini factory.

The Italian lakes are an absolute must. Must admit that I was not that impressed with Pisa so would not really recommend it. Just a long tall thing thats squint with far too many tourists.

We always book our Italian accomodation through the following:

Milan is always good, couple of touristy things and great for shopping, popping across in a couple of weeks times as I promised the wife she can get her outfit from there for my sister wedding

Do not know if you will be close to Verona but they do evening operatic performances, if you wish to be uber romantic. However they sell out pretty fast in summer.

As it's my honeymoon I think a tour round the factories would more than likely cause a divorce.....on 2nd thoughts I'll put it on my list of things to do

I've had 2nd thoughts about pisa as it's 3hrs down and 3hrs back up to lake garda and after not hearing any raving reviews then this will more than likely get dropped from the trip.

I think lake garda is a must I've heard it's def. something that needs to be seen.

I've not been, but a colleague here says that Pisa is a big industrial dump town with a leaning tower... :(

Maybe a 6hr round trip would indeed be a waste of time..

pisa is nice, go early or late to avoid the crowds,

Sorrento is nice too as is Rome, we stayed 400 yds from spanich steps for 85 for 3 nights room only, food is cheap if you shop around and stay away from tourist traps.

Try Portofino and of Monte Carlo, whish close to Nice and nice to walk round cafe next to Palace gates is nice to wath the guards changing but coffee etc is expesive so dont drink much.
