135R question

Does this look good for the money?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/156523.htm
There is also another one at a stealers down south, but pricey, however half the mileage, which always helps for resale.
Toying with a few ideas, and releasing funds, but i think a 135r is definately my S2 of choice, despite some saying it is not a great road set up, and ideal for track, who knows, must blag a pax from Robin and see how it feels.
and yes G, before you ask, I would love your Exige, but it still isn't in my budget, however will be getting some 135R feedback from you at Teeside.
Cheers,
Dave

You know i do - but for 2k more i am swaying towards the S2 135R, albeit i think both will do well in terms of holding their value.
I guess the question is which will be the best combo of track toy and good fun road car?

Robin's felt almost as quick as mine although I dont think its quite standard.
All this chat is irrelevent as you are never going to bloody buy one just talk about it then buy another diseasel shed.

I had a wee drive of Robins today (round the block) and it seemed like a nice place to be! Go for it!

Ouch - this coming from the man that talked about rear wheel drive 2 seater ownership for as long as I have been able to drive!!!!
I knew getting another one after home ownership wouldn't be a quick affair, however time is ticking now, and my patience running low. I think Teeside will really hammer home the need to get back in the fold!

You are welcome to go for a test drive on the basis that you crash it, you bought it
Mine has 160 instead of 135, but basically will feel the same as a standard 135 if you keep revs below 5,000

Robin

Thanks Robin,
I may well take you up on that offer, but what have you done to get it to 160bhp?
ECU? Shame your not down for Teeside, but will get Ed and Gareth's thoughts on it.
Cheers,
Dave

There's something not quite right about that car. Something tells me that it's a 135 and not a 135R.
It's got the body coloured side pods with is correct but not the alcantara binicle.
Not that I'm "up" on makes and models - needs someone like Simon A to comment.

Should really let Robin share, but it's pretty straightforward. Sabre Heads "big valve" upgrade. And a minor tweak to fuel pressure regulation to stop it all exploding at 7k rpm

Avoided taking the ECU to bits and rebuilding a Fat Bob Fisics Speshul...for now, I believe!!

I think the car in the link is a genuine 135R - it has the right sticker on the back clam and it has the right wheels. Maybe the furry dash got peeled off at some point coz it went wrinkly ...
The head on my car has VVC inlet valves (31.5mm) and 25.5mm exhaust valves (versus 27.8mm/24.2mm standard).
It also the usual intake and exhaust porting (not so different from a standard 135 head).
It also has a lot of combustion chamber work to deshroud the valves to allow more airflow at low lift. The 135 has some of this work as standard, but not all of it.
It's running on the standard cams, ECU, inlet, etc. at present but does have a 4:2:1+flexi on it. As Campbell says, for now I have bolted on a ~3.3bar pressure regulator just to keep the top end fuelling on the rich side to avoid damage to the exhaust valves. I have an emerald and am more or less resigned to using it sooner or later.
With bigger cams (was looking at 1811, but now thinking 1812) and an ECU change I should be able to get nearer 180 out of it, though that will be taking some risks with the pistons and I am sure to lose some bottom end torque I think.
Cheers,
Robin
