The Silver Porka is here!

Post by Rich H » Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:06 pm

...From SWMBO to get a project car! She was reasonably pissed and 600 miles away but she is not dead set against the idea as long as it isn't left on the drive.

Now on the look out for a 924 in need of a bit of TLC! :thumbsup

Galvanised bodywork, VW van engine, audi gearbox and all for under £500! AUW of around 1000kg in full trim (Hmm, lovely brown vinyl!) and 125 hp as standard.

(Problem being she will sober up and change her mind.... )

Edit: I know my Lizzy needs fixing first, but a £500 Porsche will be more munter than minter and the lizzy is a job for his ins co!

Yes please! Spare engine is even better!
There is one in Liverpool with T&T for £350 but no pics of it yet.

Purchase will have to wait until she comes back though as she has said she wanted to be involved in the purchase  (You can't have that one it 's the wrong colour, it smells, etc...)

No humongous amount of cash because I have a load of cadets to teach about mechanics (!) and the Squadron will fund some of the bits. Only teaching wheel changing, brake bleeds, oil change, pad change that sort of stuff, but was also going to strip an engine down, now a 924 with a spare engine will save ripping the old one out straight away.... :D

Currently they have a pair of 1993 Mondeos, one with a scrap engine and one diesel with some front end damage. We are in the process of reviving the damaged one but they are dull by design  hence the 924 :thumbsup

I've no idea what they're looking for £££? I'll investigate- this one's in Hamilton. They've traded up(?) for a 56 plate VX220 Turbo!

Sorry Rich -it's a 1985 944 lux - not a 924. Silver - new engine in - still not running properly. But that wouldn't be a problem for a man of your bodging talents!
Bodywork is good apparently - retro 80's interior.
They're looking for about a grand, purely because of the new engine - but that's fairly negotiable.

Grand is too much I'm afraid and 944 = Porsche engine and box = expensive bits!

I'll stick to my van engined, Audi boxed, '80s galvanized shed :D

A grand should see a porka, tax, insurance and significant bodging if I can sneak it past her...

So SWMBO is back and still not actively objecting (Which I take to be full unconditional approval) So I'm on the lookout for a scruffy 924.

Got a couple on the radar not too far away, just missed one in Liverpool at £350 t&t, latest target is a nice silver one on piston heads. £550 with 6 months t&t :D

All I need now is to convince her that block paving is nicer than grass and I really do need a car lift....

I'm mean you don't have to mow block paving and the cas won't crap on it as much. Always looks neat and tidy. Perfect solution!

They are classics and therefore allowed to leak fluids, its a safety measure. Once it stops leaking it's run out...
