Cowards!

Post by Ron » Wed Apr 04, 2007 10:11 am

Woke up this morning to find that poor liz has been keyed while parked right outside the flat.

Whoever it was had a go at the front clam above the badge and the side wing near the fuel cap.

Does anyone know:

1. If it's worth putting a claim in for a respray/repair etc
2. Who to take it to for repair in the edinburgh/central area.
3. Why a complete stranger would do this to my car.

Cheers

Ron :(

:rage Some people are complete and utter c%&ts!

Bad luck matey. I wouldnt bother claiming as you will kill your no claims. Id wait until youve got a few more dinks and stone chips etc before you get it sorted. Steve @ http://www.stevewalkerbodyshop.co.uk is your man to get it fixed!

HTH cheers Ed

I had my first S1 keyed. All down one side.

Not sure why anyone would do it.

Little cnuts!
I'm in the same boat - someone did the back of mine in November - waiting to find £300 to get it resprayed!

On the plus side - it won't rust!

Hope you get it sorted soon!

ouch! Not in Comely Bank was it mate? There's a few lizzies parked there at the mo, mine included, so I hope we're all ok...

Gutted for you - Doubt I'd loose the NCB for a respray, wait until selling time and get the whole lot done to cover stonechips too?

There are bigger 'prizes' to key in the Comely Bank area Greg.

Loads of Porsches and a Mazarati on Learmonth Gardens alone....plus 2 VX220s.
Certainly my CTR is anonymous in that company.

But keying is very common in Edinburgh. One pal had his Focus RS keyed 3 times, and another has had his wrx Sti keyed twice. Both live in the Canonmills/Stockbridge area.

I couldn't sleep at night with a beautiful car on the road. Until I get accomodation with a garage, then no Elise/Exige/VX220 for me.

Sorry to hear it mate. They are some sick people in this world. I just don’t know what they get from doing it.

I had the same thing happen to me 2 weeks after I got the Elise, keyed all away down the front clam, from above the right hand wheel all the way down to just above the Lotus badge. I was F****** FUMING when I noticed it. They must of been a fanny who done mine, as it's mostly just damaged the lacquer, so it's only really notice able depending on the light. I haven't bothered to get it resprayed yet, left it till the stone chips get really bad.

Trouble in this country is, IF they every caught the people who do this, our wonderful justice system would just slap them on the wrist, send them on a 2 week holiday to Costa Del Sol, at our expense, and then tell us to claim on our insurance.

I'm afraid so. It's wierd because it's not really a through road to anywhere and is very quiet for traffic and pedestrians.

Thanks for the support guys. There aren't many people out there who care as much about our cars as we do and this kind of thing is a real kick in the nuts.

I did think about the ex girlfriend thing but since getting the liz i've been very careful to split up with any missuses on good term (just in case).

Evil thoughts have been going through my head all day but the reality is that if i ever did catch anyone doing that and a scuffle ensued i'd probably end up being the one getting done! :scratch

Will take your advice and leave it till the end of the summer before thinking about the respray option. Touch up paint ordered from Elise Parts :)

Paul,

That's a bit harsh, if she didn't like your advances, then you should have left her alone!

That's crap mate...sorry to hear

Last summer I watched a kid about 15 run the full length of my street over all the parked cars.

When he got to the last one he planked both feet through the windscreen in a Jackie-Chan stylee move (admittedly quite impressive to watch).

Stupid fecker broke his leg, so his mates scarpered and left him to the the angry neighbours until cops/ambulance arrived....was tempted to go out and give him a matching pair even though it wasn't my motor....still gave me a little satisfaction anyway.

Thank gawd for garages!
