Hmm, if im honest i would say they are currently over priced with too few games available. Sony overestimated demand and delivered too many units hence the stock levels.

I thought I saw somewhere that they were going for £540 (or similar)
So it's not worth buying a few and eBaying them then

Glad I never bought one then.
Never really been an early adopter anyway, and I need to spend money on the car too, so your correct Tom, just not on the head, yet.

I've got one!
Awesome bit of kit - and basically a free Blueray player too!
Very very impressed with it, and Gran Turismo HD.
Sony broke the console sales record for the weekend incidentally

(over 162000 units)
About time a false allocation of product wasn't created on a product launch.

Whats the score with older games... I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the JAPA & US consoles have more features than the UK ones, and that they can play all the PS2 games... apparantly the PS3 UK version 'may' play 'some' PS2 games and has cut back features.
Not ideal, and if that is the case I would definitely just keep the PS2 until the PS3 catalogue is larger (and also means prices will maybe get realistic).
I have no signature.

TBH i don't play it that much , so the only PS2 game i'll ever play is PES 6 when Ed or my cousins are round.
Call of Duty is pretty sweet to.
Really impressed with the clarity of the picture, but I'm using a 40" Bravia. The smaller the screen the less the impact, but it is very very impressive.
When the amps that can support Blueray HD Sound come out (8 channel sound) it will be even more like home cinema

US and Japanese consoles have hardware emulation (basically a PS2 stuffed inside the PS3) - the European consoles use software emulation to cut costs (and we pay about 1.5 times more for the thing) and not everything is compatible yet - they'll have profiles done in the same manner as the 360 does for the old Xbox.
I've not got one myself but we've had them at work for a fair amount of time, and some of the exclusive stuff does look great! Plus if you take into account that a blu-ray player is around £600 they start to look like very fairly priced!

I'd wait for the price to drop, not worth it just now.
If you do go for one though, Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man are the games to buy...and also Elder Scrolls if you like RPG's. Whatever games you consider, save yourself some cash and do not buy Sonic the Hedgehog!
I played GT4 HD today at work and it's cool considering it's free but it just teases you and makes you want GT5 now!
Oh, and there will be an Edi title out soon that will be worth the price of the console alone - shameless plug over
