what am i missing without touring pack ?

Post by scott_e » Wed Mar 28, 2007 11:42 am

Im looking at an Exige S2 from an approved lotus dealer with AC but NO touring pack. But apparently it still has electric windows.

So what is it missing without TOURING ?

DAB radio /mp3 ? ....

Thanks for any help.

Sound deadening, leather seats - I believe they all have central locking now too. Probably won't have a Cat1 alarm and immobiliser either.

DAB radio, extra carpeting, bit of extra sound deadening at the rear bulkhead, and alcantara/leather on the seats. AC is the must have. If it is you daily car Touring is probably worth having, but for a weekend toy I wouldn't bother with it. My car was base spec, but with AC, and a custom leather interior (arranged via Lotus Sport when the car was built). You could always get the seats retrimmed to your taste as I did and you would end up with a more individual car.

The base exige spec includes cat 1 alarm/immobiliser, central locking, driving lights, radio/CD, and leccy windows too on later cars.

I think it still has the alarm and imobiliser. You also lose the carpets and the luggage net behind the seats. Think thats about it, iirc.

One other thing worth considering if you will be tracking the car is that base and touring spec cars built before March 05 did not have an oil cooler. All Exiges from March 05 on have at least a single cooler, and Perf Pack cars have always had 2 (as does mine now :D )

Im with you on not liking the boxster!

The exige is a great road car, dont get me wrong, but imho you really need to be on track to appreciate the benefits of the whole package. Tracking can be quite expensive, but it certainly doesnt matter if you are not any good! Look at me for instance.
If you fancy coming along to KH for some pax laps i reckon you would enjoy the experience.(its also a great social gathering) Keep an eye on the trackdays section for dates. :thumbsup

So you're buying it for the look of a road racer? I'd have serious reservations about buying a car with the shortcomings (day-to-day wise) of an Exige/Elise if you're using it as a cruiser. You'll sell it before you know it and loose a stack of money into the bargain.

There's no way I'd put up with the harsh ride & the noise unless I got to spank the life out of it on track. Just a thought..
