Ipod help-NLC

Post by Clarkie » Wed Mar 14, 2007 10:42 pm

I've had my Ipod video for about 8 months but can't seem to get the same quality of sound that I did with my old Creative Zen. Tried all the different EQ settings but don't seem to be able to get depth of sound or volume anywhere near the Zen. Is this how the Ipod's are or do I need different 'phones?

Cheers

Clarkie

Standard 'phones are meant to be garbage. Get yourself to Richer sounds for some Sennheisers 8)
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Ipod actually doesn't generate that good a quality of sound. The standard headphones cost $0.05 to manufacture so ensure you aren't listening on them.

Sennheisers or Shure should help you out, but don't get too good a set of Shures as you'll be able to hear how poor the sound output is - found that out on what of the product launches!

Might be worth you making a trip to see Shug at Buchanan Galleries (0141 331 2530) so he can let you try all the various options.

Our iPod is sensational. Think it's a 3G, so getting on a bit. Using clunky old Sony phones from a discman, no complaints.

Perhaps the bitrate of the ripped MP3s is a bit low? I use 160 to ensure CD quality, as we use our iTunes library for home music serving through a good hi-fi as well.

:-)

Watch out for Robin then, think he is headed over there too...but doubt he will be looking at anything as straightforward as an MP3 player ;-)
