Just returned from overseas, was away with work, and took the car for a little run around the tennements

Its running like a fecker ...its running very lumpy....its popping the exhaust lake a nutcase (although between the buildings it sounds kinda good  )

Could swear that there is a kinds funny smell from the exhaust too.....Image

the car was started every couple days......allowed to idle to running temp.....but hasnt actually driven anywhere......only for last 3 weeks....started on half turn of the key.

does it just need a good blast........going to check connections, plugs and leads when i can get at it during the day.

any suggestions .....

Dunno what's causing it but next time get someone to drive it rather than just idle it, seems to be better for it in my experience.

Rough Love required. Get up to temp and blow the cobwebs out!

Idling is bad apparently as it can wash the oil off the bores I was told. Sounds like a load of sh*t to me but idle is bad for the valve train due to hunting around idle all the time, constantly accel and decel.

Give the keys to one of the loonies (McKeann, Shug, Tut, etc) next time and it will be thourghly (sp) "loved" on a rough and regular basis!

was it sitting outside or in a garage?

Could be moisture in the plugs?

Could be stale petrol.

Could just need ragged. Run it gently til it's hot then give it some stick.

My car ran like a piece of crap when the alternator connection failed. It started ok, but after a while, as the charge in the battery dropped it started dropping off cylinders, popping and banging and smelt horrible. If you have a meter (but be careful!) check you're getting a decent voltage when it's running
