New exhaust and loving it!

Post by David Bryce » Thu Mar 08, 2007 3:39 pm

Well I decided that I could not be arsed fitting it myself, so I called Graeme at MMC first thing this morning for a quote and he said to bring it in within the hour :thumbsup

1 1/2 hours and £120 later I now have a stupid smile on my face :D

It sounds bloody fantastic, I'm just annoyed as I had to get back to work (now thinking about cancelling my appointments  )

Nice one, hopefully i'll see/hear your new toy around stockbridge sometime in the near future. :)

I'm hunting for one at the moment myself.

Worth the money to save the torn flesh, well done! The mechanics are all probably in the pub already ;-)

It's Thursday...soon it will be the weekend...and you can have a whole two days hooning around. Do you have some favourite routes, or would you like some inspiration for places to take the new sound system?!?

I think it's £120 well spent to be honest, especially once I realised that the under tray would need cut to make way for the bigger pipes.

My hands are in one piece and I just sat at MMC reading a magazine for an hour and a half :D

Besides, I charge alot more than £80 per hour for just taking some photos

£120  . Still, it will now sound like a real sports car rather than a Toyota Corrolla which is what matters 8)

Wonder if the Stage 2 sounds any different on the S compared to the R? Can be tad boomy on the latter. Personally I don't think anyone has come up with a perfect sports exhaust for the Yota Elise/Exige. Having heard all the following, in and outside the car, I reckon: Stage 1 - too tame, Stage 2 - too boomy, Quicksilver - ditto, Larini (on my car) - wonderful sound, but way too loud for many track days, 2Bular 7inch - very nice, still a tad noisy at a cruise, 2bular 8inch - almost spot on but needs the rear grills removed which I don't like. Someone needs to come up with a valved arrangement like the Aston V8 or Fezza 360 so it can be as quiet as the standard exhaust on the motorway or at a noise restricted track day, but can be opened up to give the full racecar effect when you are in the mood.

MMC quoted me around £200 to fit a stage 2 around 6 months ago!!!! so you did ok at £120

I had mine done at Falkland out of principle for £80 - think Dan at JPS said he does it for £50

Enjoy the noise its very addictive!!

Mark, you have not heard the 4.75 2bular with the decat - got a lot of love at the last Hot Marques. :D

I personally thought the stage 2 is not bad for hooning , but the motorway noise and build quality let it down. Valved arrangement would be cool though.

I dont know how it can take an hour and a half for a professional outfit, it took me 45 mins with pishy tools, freezing cold, lying on my back in the driveway last week....

The yellow checkered one was more than holding its own in terms of volume and quality against some hardcore competition 8)

Is it a new full exhaust? Im planning a trip to Judes and I think my exhaust might need replacing at that time :) ("darn, I need a new sports exhaust dear" if you know what I mean :P )

£120! eek! Dan said he'd fit one for me for a fraction of that price!

When I finally get around to a new exhaust (I'm swaying towards 2bular now), I'll either get Dan to fit it or have a go myself perhaps with the help of Mr. JJ if he doesn't mind!? ;)

Enjoy the noise David! 8) :thumbsup

it's this:

second hand and not exactly in as new condition but I don't care :D

Yes, I could have had it fitted for less some where else, but then how much extra travelling time would have been involved etc

I am self employed so time is money!
