Just looked at my bill today after realising they didn't fit a front set of tyres to the car as well as the rears. I got a letter through telling me I had tyres waiting and that they'd be £408. I also asked for them to supply and fit rear pads, but when I picked the car up and they told me it would be £572 I nearly choked.
But even more so when I realised they only fitted 2 tyres (2x £108 ex VAT), and that they have charged me £105 + VAT to fit and balance 2 tyres!!! They only charged me £70 to fit the rear pads, FFS!
I am going to go through those c**ts tomorrow...

especially for pads - its such a price of piss to use them.
Ronnie at Wheels Around is the best I've found for tyres.
Example - A048's at MMC - £405 for 2 rears. Last set from Ronnie £265 of there abouts fitted and balanced!
Realise Newcastle isn't quite as near for you, but JPS is worth a visit. Not only does Dan know his stuff, he's hugely enthusiastic, and so much better in all regards than MMC.
If you want the FLSH stamps for the books, get your oil changed at MMC at the recommended intervals, for everything else, look elsewhere .

it gets worse considering Willy at CLCM (that they would have used if it was Edin - though you might be at the Chrysler dealership!) charges £11 a corner for fitting and balancing

Bad luck matey, i got stung for 5 hours labour for my braided hoses. To be fair to them though they did knock a bit off when i nearly passed out at the sight of the bill.

Oh Cr*p!
I had an electrics failure (all of them) on friday which required me to get a tow to MMC (big thanks to Greg for his towing eye). I never take the liz there (usually go to JPS) but no choice this time
It needs a new alternator and I just know i'm going to get my pants pulled down by them at the end of the week. It'll probably cost me double what it needs to.

stopped using them ages ago when they broke the rear hub carrier on my esprit and left me with the bill!!! after writting to the md i got the labour waved but still had to buy a £300 part which was fine when they got it!!!! I now use Pheonix Honda in grangemouth, Work there is awesome and they're great with their pricing.. They're rebuilding my Esprit and do the work on my VW too!! Worth taking your cars there for servicing!!! Great guys

That'll be a few more for the sticky then
Last time I put the car in with a problem it came back unfixed, AND with additional things not working. Then they wanted to charge me for the time it took them to break things
Another vote for dan

Any good stories?
Was going to get them to do an oil change next week, rather than have to go to two garages in a week. Any idea how much they're liable to sting me for?

I spoke to John (warranty officer/ tech??) in MMC last week about the lack of communication regarding my floor panels...
he was very appologetic and said that there has been a few changes recently for the better... i hope there has been, but i get the feeling that ive seen that in a post here about 6 months ago!

They've been ok with me... other than i had to call them back about the panels, but i assumed that was as i was away and had no reception?

to be fair to John, i think it will get sorted now - i emailed him photos today.
It has been the 4th time I have called and each time its news to them that i need the panels done. Ive already been in and showed them it...
One of the guys i spoke to kept asking me how i knew about the warranty etc then told me that lotus might not do it now.
Sorry for the hijack Gaz - hope you get it sorted!

mmm im really worried about this dealer ... never heard any good things about them.
Guess i could get a local garage to do the basic i.e order tyres on the net and get them to fit, get them to do pads, oil change etc .. and once a year (hopefully) pay a visit to Dan @ JPS for service.
In the event of an emergency mechanical repair i was hoping i could get a local garage to do it to be honest. Is it worth using a local garage or should i always go to a dealer / specialist ?

agree go for a specialist as they are doing it as they have an interest a dealer just employs grease monkeys that could of been knackering fords last week and is doing a lotus this week as the pay might be slightly more.
As to tyres i would not go past ronnie he has always been cheap and always been efficient
