Newcastle hotel

Post by simon » Mon Mar 05, 2007 12:47 pm

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Newcastle?
I'm off work at the end of the month so thought I might get the car serviced and MOT'd by Dan and visit the metro centre too. Not looking for anything fancy, a travel inn or similar would do as it'll only be for 1 night.

Copthorne is good right on the queside, be sure to check out the tuxedo princess, a night club on a boat. If you do make sure your very drunk before going on board the ship does not inspire confidence.

There is a Travel Inn/Lodge a bit further round the A1 from Dan, on the other side of the Metro Centre, that I stayed at a few years ago. It was okay.

I'm sure Dan or some others could recommend better places though.
Green Subaru Impreza Turbo, a 'classic'.

Silver Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD, on SORN spec...

Caledonian Hotel on Osbourne Rd, 10 mins walk from city centre, but has a few good bars & restaurants around it.

Also White's Hotel on Osbourne Rd, it's quite cheap, but that is reflected in the general state of the hotel! It's a few doors down from the Cale.

The Hitlon at Gateshead is pretty good, and often has very cheap weekend offers. Short walk over one of the many bridges to Newcastle city centre.

Something that has popped into my head regarding the City centre hotel I mention above, it has an underground carpark which maybe a little steep for the liz and if you do get into it they charge you £7, I was in a works car and put the parking against expenses hence the after though.

Just visited Dan this past weekend.

Stayed at the Jesmond Dene Hotel which is very nice.

I would recommend the Gray Street Hotel as a central alternative.

Me and the g/f stayed at the Preimer Travel Inn round the corner from Dans when I had my elise down getting serviced last Oct. Looking at the website, i think it was the Newcastle South one. Really nice and comfy, got one of those Beefeater type pubs next door. It was strange walking in the pub with every one smoking. Cost about £50ish for the night. Metro centre is just round the corner as well.
