Just wondered if anyone managed to beat my 14 trips to MMC for Elise issues in 2006. (all involving the car being looked at (probably quite literally!))
I'm not including trips to test drive the Exige S or 340r, nor to pinch an Aston Tax disc holder for the Merc!

Not on number of trips but I'm 11 days away from a whole year of getting 1 warranty issue sorted!

Did they give you a private parking space?
It is reported that some staff at MMC thought you were a colleague of some sort?

i could park anywhere I like although my Elise spent 10 weeks there through the summer. I think i also spent more time there than some of the staff, but Graeme, Pauline and Bill kept me well fed on hot chocolates

I could probably claim the least warranty visits to MMC in the 2 years I had my Elise. ZERO

and that was with over 34 track days

Minor problems such as front indicators, door locks and missing defusser beading were all sorted to during normal services.

If you work it out as percentages, I might beat you Andy . . .
8 trips to an MMC workshop (Glesgae and Edinburger) in the first 9 weeks of ownership, totalling 16 days I was without the car in that time. That equates to being without my car for 25% of the time I'd owned it (at that time). 15% of the mileage I completed in that 9 week period was going to MMC in Edinburgh and back!
Admittedly, my problems were not as serious as yours though!
BTW, guess where my car's off to tomorrow for a couple of days . . . ?
. . . Yup, you've guessed it . . . MMC!

Forget it - 10 weeks off the road on top of the 14 visits
Hope you get her sorted. Never have i owned a car capable of generating more differing emotions. From total dissillusionment to utter joy.
Every shocker with Lotus/MMC was forgotten about as soon as I went for a blast or even better a trackday!

Yup, you definitely win Andy!
I agree about the mixed emotions, but I've got over the anger thing now I think! All the initial probs were sorted and I got a fair whack of compensation for it. I've grown to actually quite like the car's "quirky" features! Just getting my weird squeaking clutch and jumpy idle sorted today, so nothing major.
You're damn right though . . . a good blast makes you fall in love with the car again!
