Is this a very silly idea ?!?!

Post by Lazydonkey » Sat Oct 29, 2005 8:24 pm

Well the VX is broken AGAIN :(

Something is catching / graunching on the back nearside corner then i reverse on full lock.........but Vauxhall had replaced a toelink on Wednesday so I'm guessing they've just made a complete f*cking hash of fixing it.

After fuming inside for a while I went back outside to see if if could spot what was cuasing the problem. Started the car, and its running on 3 cylinders again...............there was water getting into the coil pack and this will now be Vauxhalls 3rd attempt at fixing it. I love the car i really do but Vaux are just f*cking rubbish and i'm fed up of them

So, getting to the point !

I'm off to see Gavin @ MMC tomorrow and see what deals they have on. Now i know its going to be pretty easy to get a free touring pack and zuast as Wilsons etc are doing similar deals........but its still a £28k car.

Someone convince me its a stupid idea to buy one of the last 05 models.

Cheers,

The most p*ssed off and downheartened donkey in the world. :(

p.s I'm not buying a K engined car EVER before anyone says :P

Firstly, is it not Graeme at MMC?
And, I take it you mean Exige or 111R?

At least you are seeing the light and moving to Lotus!

I'm going to MMC Glasgow, it was Gavin who gave me my first taster of Elise motoring so IF i do buy I'd like him to get the sale.

I'm thinking 111R at the moment.

DON'T buy a new one unless you're prepared to suffer the depreciation. Whilst an Elise will hold it's value better than a lot of cars, you'd still be looking at a year old car being worth no more than probably £25k. Unless you really want a new one to your own spec, I'd consider a 2nd hand one.

and this one's incredibly cheap, though it's totally standard

Hey mate, Gavin is a really decent bloke. He will help you out if your having a problem so id deffo recommend buying the car through him.

Dont be too put off by the k-series. Ive had 3 k-series engined elises/exige now and only ever had engine issues with the VHPD needing a rebuild at 22k due to oil starvation. Just uprate the thermostat and your fine. Bear in mind the k is far lighter than the yota mota :D

Martin, stop being such a gay :P

Take it somewhere other than a Vauxhall garage. Most main dealers for most mainstream car manufacturers are either:

a) pish
or
b) ridiculously expensive
or
c) all of the above

I know your car is still under warranty but if it's the 3rd year of said warranty you should be able to take it to any VAT registered garage. It's all about finding someone you can trust to work on your car 8)

Its ok - temporary insanity has now passed.

Vauxhalls are sooooooo much cooler than Elises :P

To be honest I went to see Gavin, but i don't think the figures stack up at the moment so the car is staying put for the forseeable future. Plus I had a good run on the way home and noticed JUST how many looks a VX gets, I think i like being an outsider!

Rest assured Lee, I'm only going to go back to Vauxhall for this one fault (cos they won't charge me for fixing it) but after that I'm not darkening their door again.

Oh and finally, not sure if this is top secret or not, but it looks like Glasgow MMC will only be servicing Lotus (loti ?!?!) in the future. Lotus sales franchise looks like its going to be replaced with Dodge. Which is a shame. :(

Enjoy the VX whilst you can :thumbsup One day, the poor things will start to perish, and we will have no option but to consider the offerings of the Junior Protons.

New about that ages ago. I heard MMC are considering a new place in Abz somewhere but I dunno if that's true or not. Either way, I don't see losing the Glasgow one as being a shame, I don't think they actually sold many cars and they were as expensive as Edinburgh but with less experience. What I think is a shame is that MMC have a monopoly in Scotland after Town & County shut down.

I also have heard of another garage that may be doing official Lotus servicing but I'll not say any more until I find out for certain.

Abz desperately needs one!

Abz...one of the richest cities in the UK and no Lotus, Ferrari, Aston, TVR garage. :(

I'd be suprised if Abz gets one or if it does it won't last. MMC Glasgow was the baby of the late Johh Martin Jnr as indeed the hole lotus concept.

Now that he's gone I don't know how much of an appitite the other directors have.

Cheers
