IT Job Vacancy in Aberdeen

Post by JohnStewart » Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:31 pm

Anyone interested in an IT job in Aberdeen. We've been trying to recruit someone else for our team for a few weeks, but not had much luck with decent CVs. We did make a job offer to one candidate, but sadly he accepted a year's extension to his current contract which was made at the last minute.

Spec can be found on jobserve.

If you know of anyone who might be interested/suitable, then please send them my way :)

John

"c30K" ????

Wouldn't get out of bed for that.... ;)

Edit:.. sorry wasn't meant to be rude, it's an OK price for a junior-ish analyst I guess. I should stay away from the laptop after a bottle of wine. I'm in the middle of an Oracle 10g course right now actually.

Wil show it to the wife but i doubt she would get out of bed for that either, not to mention if it is based in ABZ, she does have Oracle skills as is an Oracle Consultant!

No need to then, eh! It is support focused after all. Not to everyone's tastes, but it will pay somebody's mortgage for a while for sure :-)

Good luck in your search, John. Not sure if you have any agencies on board to help you but happy to recommend one if needed. Plenty experience in the ABZ market.

Campbell,

it is indeed the very same Kevin Walker who now sits at the desk next to me :)

As you can tell from the salary (it is negotiable!), we're not looking for someone with umpteen years experience, and was thinking along the lines of someone with a couple of years experience out of Uni with exposure to oracle, testing etc who enjoys working with users, is keen to learn about the oil & gas industry etc.

Not going through agencies if we can avoid it. Got stung the last time for several £K, only for the person to leave after 3 months when her husband got relocated to the US. We would rather pay the extra in salary/bonuses etc to get the right person.

John

I am an IT wizard, umpteen years of experience with Coracle, Pasco, BasiK, Yorick, Fith, in fact all the top Programming Languages.

However I would have to work from home, but that should be no problem as I have a Dell 24" wide screen monitor, and a 56K modem.

£30K would be acceptable as long as it is paid tax free etc, preferably in reddies, otherwise the Noncers may take an interest.

tut

ps no probs with brown envelopes.

Well how bizarre, I bumped into Mr Walker on my local golf course last year and assumed he was working in West Lothian area again. Take it he saw the (northern) light(s) and relocated back to ABZ?!

As for agencies, I take your point about the issues of their fees. Nonetheless, if you still struggle, and want to flirt with the Dark Side again after all, let me know and I'll recommend one that I do trust a lot (7 years' involvement).

Sorry Dave, we outsource our IT support to a local company who charge about £100/month, and we very rarely need to call them.

Campbell - Kevin was working and livign down that way, but took the chance to move back up here when the right job became available. His friend's wife already works for us.

Tut - well we do need someone with a good knowledge of aviation, particularly helicopters offshore, but it's not a work from home position ;)
