Crashed it... UPDATE: Good news!

Post by Rich H » Wed Feb 07, 2007 7:00 pm

Not my fault though!

Dickhead in a Vectra decided to take advantage of a gap left in the queuing traffic in the left hand lane but neglected to check the right hand lane which I was using! I got a split sec of warning but with cold tyres, cold road and cold brain I had one choice, stationary Vectra or oncoming traffic. I chose him. Hit at approx 10 mph perhaps with all 4 locked up. Check out how clear his windows are....not!

Damage appears to be front left clam, pretty smashed and a wheel arch liner. Missed the rad, hose, crash structure and the wheel (Fiberglass is tough stuff!) slight mark on the wheel rim but no dink in it. Drives straight and true. Got his details, gave him mine and then he fcuked off rapidly, no reason to doubt it was genuine (I hope!) no witnesses stopped despite the busy traffic and the pedestrians couldn't really see. I did tell him that the rapidly growing pool of coolant probably needed attention but he wasn't interested, fcuk him.

I have bodge taped it back together, pushed the light back in and I am considering going to the Norlog monthly meet in a bit but I'm not sure if thats a good idea.

also one of the guys at work jokingly said does your neck hurt, but I'm not sure TBH, it aches a bit but I also have flu. Going to get it checked anyway to be on the safe side.

barsteward, I was fcuking fuming but remained calm as I didn't want to give him any maneuvering when it came to leaving details.

A few pics...

Bad luck but as always any crash you walk away from and all that. Glad to hear you are substantially OK, best to get it checked out just in case.

Looks like a new clam to me + wheel refurbishment (4x) + geo + rack if you recon that you need one (before or after crash). Dampers, wishbones, track rods if required.

I can’t see him getting away with anything under £2.5k.

Still on the bright side she will get a shiny new nose and it not as though you are getting something that is all filler and bodged paint, should be better than new.

Caterweapon courtesy car?

 AR51 didn't spot that!

Cheers chaps!

Just waiting for insurance forms then its off the Phoenix unless Bell have a decent repairer on their books. I'll have to pay the excess then claim it back though, £350.

I just hope he doesn't try and lie his way out of it. Made a point of telling the insurance co that there were no witnesses at the scene that spoke to either of us so he will find it v difficult to produce a witness all of a sudden. Also front left damage on mine, front right on his, it's pretty clear who did what.

I just want it sorted and not cost me anything!
