NLC Car transportation firms

Post by scottyf » Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:33 pm

Hey, Have any of you guys got any recommendations for firms that can safely transport cars?

I might be needing to get a car picked up in London and brought back here? Any Idea on costs?

Only reason im thinking is cause I cant really afford the time off to go and collect and if its not much more than the air fare down I might be tempted.

I used cartransportbroker.co.uk to get a quote for having a specialist car brought up from Essex to Arbroath(ish) (530 miles). They contact 50 or so transportation companies and any one which can accomodate you send an email quote. I got about 10 quotes ranging from £850 plus VAT down to £300 inc. The £300 was with http://www.dwtransport.co.uk in an enclosed car trailer too.

I would imagine there is enough movement in SE circles to facilitate. Shoomer was good enough to drive my car up from Dans etc. I am in London a fair bit next year....

Hi Scott,

Try,

A1 Automotive Livingston 08448 400400
Falkirk Car Carriers 01324 482382
IC Vehicles 01506-466000

Might be worth trying SVT at Kirriemuir. They build and service the car transporters and have a close association with Spirit Auto Logistics. Might know someone local to you or a n other 01575 574000.

More likely to get a good deal on Scottish guys coming back empty or with space, than someone bringing car up and trying to get a return load.

Cheers

Clark

Skye and I are in London For the New Year. Booked on train back on the 3rd but could drive back if that was of use. Secure parking where we are staying (Chelsea).

Cheers for all the offers guys.

It's going to be dependent on when the insurance settles for my wifes car before we can buy a new one anyway.

I'll keep peeps posted and might take an offer up if the deal comes to fruition.
