Completely random post . . . but I'd just like to say how fecking amazing I think contact lenses are! Been wearing glasses since my mid-teens and always meant to try contact lenses, but only got around to getting them last week. Had them on all day today and they're fecking great! No more steamed up glasses when I walk into warm pubs/shops after being out in the cold!

Also, it's great to have peripheral vision again!

My mate just got that done a few weeks ago and just got told he has better than 20/20 vision now! (although I didn't think that was possible

) Says it was one of the best decisions he's ever made.
I keep winding him up and asking if he feels like jesus has "touched" him!

I have tried contact lenses a few times but gave up. Could never get them in without lots of eye prodding and could never get them out in under 10 minutes. Might think about the laser surgery tho

I had them for a couple of years but just got lazy and stopped using them. The problem was coming home pissed and either not wanting to clean them (Monthly disposables) or sleeping with them in (Ouch!) I supppose daily would be ok, but I CBA messing about each morining.

falling asleep p1ssed

is the big down side of contact lenses have used them for 15 years now and also as you get older and start to find that you can't read when wearing the lenses that fix your short sightedness

Ain't eyesight BRILLIANT !
I'm in the process of changing contact types after 14 years of wearing. I was told that my eyesight is getting 'less bad' as I get older - YIPPEE !

I'm heading for a laser surgery consulation just after new year - hopefully I'm a suitable candidate for it. Eyesight's far worse than it was and my eyes are always dry feeling and gritty with lenses in - but I hate wearing glasses.
Anyone who's had it like to tell me more about it?

Been wearing lenses for years and they are fantastic.
Top tips:
1) If your eye sight is bad then wear daily disposables for swimming and other water sports. Current thinking is that there is no reason not to as long as you throw them away afterwards to prevent infection.
2) Get all day, all night lenses and wear them during the day only. They are a couple of quid more expensive a month (£3 - I think) and let 20x more Oxygen to the eye. If you get pissed and forget to take them out there is no problem

I started using daily disposable contact lenses last year and find them great for sport type things such as Ice Skating and swimming (Found out they worked by accident in water when I forgot to take them off once). They make a tremendous difference on ice with the peripheral vision and no worries of glasses flying off.
The other thing I use them for is on the motorbike where glasses can get in the way of the helmet. I don't wear them everyday and just use glasses for stuff like driving or going round shops.
On a motorcycle run last year I got speaking to this guy who had had laser surgery done on his eyes and he was absolutley delighted with the results. Since then I have spoken to some other people who have had it done and all seemed very happy with it. Might go for a consultation sometime as the prices seem to be comming down all the time.

The RAF would not accept laser surgery as a cure for poor eye sight, I was told it affects night vision but I don't know if thats 100% true. May just be new-fangled-tech lets turn it down anyway kneejerk reaction again
That said I know a couple of people who have had it done and they are both delighted. I'll just stick with glasses for now...
