Seems to me there is a better answer than a 5 year ban and £500 – I was in court yesterday waiting for a case when a homeless guy got 30 days (reduced to 20 for an early plea) for giving the police a swearing when they woke him up for sleeping in a ditch in the middle of nowhere. No suggestion of under the influence, not doing anybody any harm until he was woken up, no threats of violence, no resent or serious previous.

Ban by all means but I recon that a couple of weeks in choky – even one of the nicer low security numbers would be fair comment on a second offence. £500 is a joke!!
