Twin rad fans on S1

Will be changing the rad over soon (leaking) and the clam will be off. Read on Exiges.com about a lad who had his a/c button on the dash rigged up to a second cooling fan. He cited his reasons as cooling when in traffic and also for cool down laps.
I am tempted to do this also as a preventative measure (98R) should the other fan fail and to avoid a clam off repair.
Costs involved should be low.
Thoughts ?

seen this on a car on pistonheads the other day.
It was a manual override switch so only just the one fan i think...

Manual override would be much simpler TBH, no mincing about cutting things up.
Something that would be more useful if you want to complicate things would be a remote thermostat with an electric bypass pump (The S2 with VVC has one, 111R/S? I dunno

Also the motorsport elise had one IIRC) to keep the water moving when you switch off.

Looking to increase redundancy and also to be able to quickly cool the car.

Mine comes down from 102-88 in about 1-2 minutes never going above 102, quick enough I would think. A manual o-ride would do the same in that you could run the fan regually. I have read about siezed fans, but a regular run would help prevent this. While the engine is running then you have coolant moving one fan should be ample.
Remember that a stationary fan disrupts the flow through the rad so you may actually get a higher temp while moving...
That said 2 fans would help while stopped. I still like the idea of keeping the coolant moving for a few mins after switch off.
All IMHO of course!
