I have a continual problem with rabbits destroying my lawn and gravel drive. I've looked at various ultrasonic deterrents but these seem to have variable results. Then I started thinking about a drone (that I know nothing about). Would it be feasible to have a drone parked on a docking station that would be activated by motion then it would power up and fly a pre programmed low level circuit around the garden a few times before docking again ?. It would only be used at night. Maybe a bit over the top but wouldn't need to be anything fancy as long as it was programmable. If anyone is into drones I'd like to hear your opinions.

Similar idea perhaps but my neighbour has a robot mower which he has set to do its thing during the night. No idea if it influences rabbits but remember that the cheaper the drone the lighter it is so the more chance you would wake up and find it half way down the street on a blowy morning.

Good point. Perhaps a ground based device is a safer bet.

Which might be a challenging argument if you fly it in the dark. When you are sleeping. And you’re not flying it.

Yes the pest control guy did say shooting them was the best solution, or get a dog as a deterrent. I guess I'll just try some of the off the shelf products to see if any of them are effective. Fox urine pellets seem to work for some folk, although they look a bit hard to swallow

Decided to build a robot to prowl around the garden to scare them off. I can use a perimeter wire arrangement as per robot lawnmower combined with motion detection and collision avoidance. Might even mount a dummy bird of prey on it with flapping wings. The world of raspberry pi is quite interesting, just need to get back into programming.

Now that looks interesting.
