some years ago I have had the privilege of drinking with some of the lads from 3 para. The army seem to use Otterburn as a "chill out" place after completing a tour. They had just come back from Northern Ireland. I suppose as Otterburn is in the middle of nowhere they can get whatever they have been through out of their system before being let lose home for a short while.
They get the choice of a night out in Newcastle or a night out in Jedburgh. As always they have strict warnings about there conduct, and I suppose for some there is a lot less chance of provocation in a small place like Jeburgh.
Great bunch of lad, that's what struck me most. Most of them were just boys.
