Best way to carry petrol in an Elise

Getting a bit tired of diving over the services in between SLS sessions, plus I seem to end up with far too much fuel in the tank (I was over 1000kg last time, I while I had had a Knockhill burger, I hadn’t had that many pies!!!) Would be much better if I brought fuel so I can both have enough for the day/getting home and fine tune it to have as little as possible for the final.
So what’s the best way to carry 20l in the Elise safely?
I’ve seen folk with a jerrycan flat in the boot, but if it leaks that’s going to be a bit explody. Then if I put it in the passenger footwell it’s going to go flying if I’m not careful and having a RTA with that sat next to be wouldn’t be fun, even if it didn’t come open. Maybe I’m overthinking it and they are leak-proof enough for flat, or I could strap it down in the footwell.
Any recommendations or experience?
Cheers,
Bobby

For trackdays I have 2 of these in the passenger side of the 211 but I can strap them to the roll bar stays.

20l Jerry can fits nicely in the passenger footwell.

Last time I took down a jerrycan, I sat it upright in the passenger seat and used the seat belt to anchor it in... bugger if you’ve a passenger though.

Thanks all!
In the end I went for two of these, which should fit in the boot nicely:

Seller says they are actually not quite as tall as the meaurements, although even then I think they should be ok for closing the boot lid!

It’s one like that I carry as emergency fuel all the time. Fits neatly behind the drivers side rear wheel arch in the boot.

I used to use one of them as the fuel tank in one of my old autotest cars.

I use the petrol tank, there is a handy fill nozzle at the side.

Absolutely superb those VP RAcing Jerry cans and fills it up way faster thanks to the breather.
