Had a wee trip last week, country route to Inverness, then followed the blue skies to Durness.

The Spar shop was closed, so I turned around and came back the same way.

Met a yellow exige/Elise north of Ullapool and a group of classic Mustangs with Belgian plates, other than that, empty roads all the way.

Thanks for the compliments, apologies for the lotuslessness.

Now that I’ve discovered how to post pictures here, I may be back with more :thumbsup

Great pics.

Don't mind the lack of lotus content when there is something as nice as the mog to admire.

The SE hardy squad will be camping up that way again in June I believe. And out near Arisaig in Sept.

Can you fit a tent in there? (And some firewood )

Beautiful Morgan 8)

Was at Revolutions Perth a couple of weeks back to collect a friend's (& ex-SEer) Aero 8 from its 1st year service and had a good nose about Russell's place - with age you get to appreciate the craftsmanship more and morse - really lovely things indeed :thumbsup

Lego James sent me a couple of pictures of the SE trip, an impressive gathering and looked good fun.

The Roof on my Morgan is the original stud fastened type which is essentially, a one man tent itself, so that’s sorted.

As for carrying firewood, that’s as close to cannibalism as you get for a Morgan, I’m sure there’s a law against it and you’d be banned from keeping one for life

To get the topic back to a Lotus theme, I often wonder if Lotus is missing a trick by not continuing the manufacturing of the S1.
Morgan has managed to make a profit most years, for eighty years, producing my car. Caterham managed to sell out in a week of their recreated classic, all at top money

Good question ref S1 continuation.

We've had this debate a couple of times. My assumption is it's too hard to (re-)homologate a faithful S1 spec due to latest regs. What have Morgan done to keep their "early" format working? Probably charging a strong price helps. Lotus would need to find a Singer-shaped market segment to fill with an S1 rebirth I imagine?

In the case of my model, it has the world longest continuous production run, interrupted only by the Second World War. 2018 was the 80th anniversary of the 4/4 model ( 4 wheels and 4 cylinders). As far as I understand it, this has allowed them to remain basically unchanged to this day, not featuring such innovations as, servo or ABS, airbags or winding windows.
Passenger and pedestrian safety would probably be NCAP’s poorest result, they still use an ash frame, Front suspension resembles two pogo sticks and the rear are leaf springs.
Despite these apparent deficiencies, it’s an enjoyable drive. It weighs 795kg, feels twice as fast as it actually is and holds it’s money in the long term.
The qualities are similar to the S1, Morgan Motor Co is in rude health at the moment, exports are doing particularly well, Lotus could too.

Well I might buy one if Lotus did. But the Austin Metro bearings have to go
