V Max....?

So how fast is your car... actually?

in real life with a fat bloke with limited talent behind the wheel?
Lets face it, the majority of us have never maxed out their cars... (not that they would ever admit it on a public road)

I would love to just hold the pedal down and see what she can do over an open three or four mile straight road. Is there anywhere in the UK where this is possible? I have seen a few events at airfields publicised before, run the runway or something similar..

Does anyone know if there are any events like this? Is there anyone who might be able to put an event together...?

Asking more from a "fcuk it why not, not doing anything else that weekend" perspective...

if there were enough people crail would perhaps rent you out the place for a bit. not sure what state the main landing strip would be in as they only need to maintain 1/4 mile of it. beyond that youd probably have to head south.

Donโ€™t think Crail is long enough. Was it not Bedford Autodrome thatโ€™s used for top speed type events?

I would of thought the majority would of v maxed their cars and bikes at some point. No just me. ๐Ÿ˜ The Speedos always over reads so its just a number on a gauge. Really need a runway.

Race The Runway is held annually at Leuchars in Fife, by the Soldiers charity, but seems to concentrate on acceleration (600m shootout)

It states "Weather permitting, also an untimed high speed individual run along the full runway" and it's not that cheap.
https://www.evensi.uk/leuchars-race-run ... /246248406

Also nothing says how long the long the weather permitting full runway is, though someone asked.
I meant to go to this as a spectator the past couple of years, but life has got in the way.

I'd imagine that, given the performance of some cars nowadays, the insurance to run such an event would be a bit crazy.
I mean, you can buy something pretty quick (which i'll define is a likely to break the old German 150mph barrier) for a few thousand pounds.
Add in no maintenance, and ditch finder tyres and you have a recipe for disaster.

Bruntingthorpe is where the big guns go in UK.

Regularly hitting over 200mph, not on speedo but calibrated measuring equipment.

Been on TV plenty and on YouTube.

I think it's about 2.5 miles long.

An example:

211 will do a 6th gear, rev limited, GPS verified 160mph (with a GT3 slipstream). 155 when you lose the tow.
Germany obviously and Oakleys are only stable up to around 150 so have to hold them on with one hand.

Evora S would probably still be pulling at GPS 170 tuts...

Honda S1 did 160mph but took quite a few miles. More than the length of a 2 mile runway

Kawasaki ZX10R does 182mph on a 0.7 mile straight <BG>

Did you go down and back again?

Was just pointing out that real vmax won't be achieved on a runway. Quiet road or motorway required

That was funny as fcuk Ali - that was the Gt3s cruising speed and after 2 days at Spa and 1 day the Ring, 3k mile, its averaged 28mpg! Work that out!!

997 GT3 - 198mph
991 Gt3 - 199mph for nearly 2 miles (was convinced it was rigged to prevent it reading 200)

Bizarrely i was actually wondering about doing something like this at the East Fortune venue we use for the Supercar Days. Its a bit of a mare in some respects, but if there was the demand we might look to do something. Not sure what the actual main runway distance is, and it requires proper medical support etc, so not a straight forward one.

What you need is Wiley-X with strap ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Have a pair of those but they are night vision equipped. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž
I wasn't really prepared for vmax in Oakleys and flip flops.

 Did anyone else read โ€œwifey with strap on โ€œ
:? :damnfunny

Back in the late 80s my Excel SE achieved 146 on the M74, it might have reached an indicated 150 if it hadnโ€™t of been for the Police BMW :?
