Interesting reporting.

The reader is led to believe that the alleged offence occurred on the twister, scenic part of the pass. For increased "shock the reader" effect, presumably.

Yet it was actually on the arrow-straight, safer stretch * on the western side of the climb.

Albeit the Dunoon junction means there's a fair hazard there too.

Tricky. That's one of only a few overtaking opportunities on a road regularly rammed with distracted, slow tourists. Don't suppose an indicated 110 was needed to pass anything at that time of night though...

* - all things are relative, of course

He was a bit further north. Tyndrum-Oban stretch IIRC.

The straight in question in that report is probably a great revenue stream for Police Scotland.

Yes, out of Tyndrum and along the A85 on the way to Inveraray Castle for lunch.

I believe the police often watch that straight stretch in particular. I tend to drive it slower than other parts of the same road

And I'm more careful around the junction either because someone may appear and forget to look both ways or because there may be someone just happening to be lurking and watching out for you, in the interests of 'safety'

 I imagine being topless at 140 might have been a bit uncomfortable for Mrs ScottJ-PS

I was not even trying at 109 and was not even aware, just trying to catch up with the two ahead as I had no idea where we were going.

Still cry myself to sleep at night for not checking the speedo, instead I immediately slowed down so that they could get on the road and catch up with me and that took a couple of miles. I should have just put my foot down as the Inveraray turn off was coming up and they would never have got close to me. I did not even have the correct number plates on, I had just bought the car and had stuck N3 TUT plates on for the photo shoot at the start and forgotten to take them off again.
