Bloody Lotus...

Horrible noise comming from the car engine bay as the revs dropped, in neutral or in gear, sounds like a rattle but low pitched and rumble/scraping. It didn't make a noise as the revs were rising.. 10 SE beer tokens if you can guess what it was. You get 3 questions. It has been driving me mad. But it's now fixed :-)

Nope,

Horrible enough to think a main bearing was on its way out, I was thinking supercharger.

Small stone jammed in between diffuser and subframe or suspension mounts (I don't know what they are called), must have worked its way in there and gradually forced it apart. The diffuser had popped out and buckled slightly, enough to catch the Exhaust tip which is off centre. But when revs were dropping the exhaust was pulled away from the diffuser as the engine moved on its mounts. So Campbell and Kenny can combine Their answers and share the 10 SE beer tokens. I was fecking sh*t myself, thought it had thrown a bearing.
