Hello Roary!

Post by mwmackenzie » Thu Mar 30, 2017 1:48 pm

So I went and collected my Boxster last night in deepest Ayrshire, drove it to Harthill and let my Wife and Daughter take it the rest of the way home... They had a chat in the car, Johanna calls it Roary as it makes a great roar, Maria on the other hand calls it Katy, after Katy Perry's roar....

Anyway back to the matter at hand its a 55 plate Boxster S with Sports Chrono pack, seems pretty lively, sports button really changes the character of the car which is cool but I think I'm going to take a while to gel with it, it just doesn't excite me in the way my Elise did, but then I was pretty emotionally attached to my Elise, we'd been through a lot together lol.... I'm going to give it a good chance to redeem itself but it's very refined, the speed creeps up on you without you realising it as its so quiet in the cabin. The Elise let you know your were speeding by making a racket, and shaking itself over the road surface lol this thing actually tells me, it talks lol....

I think once I get in about it and clean it up over the weekend I'll bond with it more as it's been sat for some time as it's previous owner is now living in Canada so it's a tad grubby. I feel I got a decent deal on the car so shouldn't lose anything on it and the Garage that has looked after the car 'George Morrison' in Glasgow, highly regarded independent said it's a well looked after car that has wanted for nothing! Seems well put together and pretty quick, too quick at higher speeds so need to keep that in check! I miss my Elise and will most likely be back in one at some point! I will be tracking this so will see some of you at Knockhill this year and if I'm still on the invite list may make some runs or camping ;) The wife prefers the Porsche and has grown pretty attached to it already pinching the keys off my keyring this morning and thinking it's her new daily..... That will need to stop before she destroys the wheels and suspension off the pavements!

Cheers
Mark

Tidy. Well done. Don't break it. And don't let the missus park near it. ;-)

Very very different from a Lotus but by no means a bad car. Loved the one we had and would happily have another. Give it some time and it will get under your skin Mark, there's more to them than meets the eye initially. Enjoy :thumbsup

That's cos she's 11 :P It's actually pretty minging, been sitting for a while but I hope to spend a day scrubbing the F out of it at the weekend and fitting a double Din Kenwood Appleplay thingamijiggy and speakers at the weekend.. I think I also need to drop it 35mm to be a bit more 'MacKenzie' so to speak

:welcome new porker!

Don't "McKenzie" it you pillock! Any mods, speak to the Boag  . He'll actually give you ones to improve the car for a change

Get used to it first! :cheers

The one we had was simply superb. So good its easy to take for granted, as nothing ever went wrong with Clares and it was so easy to live with. She wasn't happy when I replaced it with a new 7 series for her post Charlottes arrival!

Her fault though - she was convinced that the pram wouldn't fit - and as we were waiting on it being collected I tried and somehow it did :damnfunny :damnfunny :damnfunny :cheers
