New tow bracket / strap & a fab run home! Thanks Murrays

Post by Jam_s160 » Fri Mar 03, 2017 8:43 pm

Despite my other thread (losing my glasses) I had a an epic day today… up at 4am to go pick my car up from Murray Lotus. They were resolving some factory paint work defects (rear lower clam paint runs) & fitting a rear tow bracket / strap that I bought. All work completed was nice and tidy. Once again thanks to Nick, Ian & John (mechanics – now getting to know them & their enthusiasm for our plastic cars :thumbsup ) for answering all my question before hand, getting it slotted in around my crazy flying schedule and keeping me up to date throughout. I even got a 1.6 Elise as a courtesy car which was nice for the week (but too loud with the stage 3 – lol). :damnfunny

Following a wee bit of personal business work and a good natter at Murrays Lotus (staring at 2x Exige 380s!) I headed home only to be met with blue skies… this meant a detour at Perth up and over Glenshee of course. Well know to us all, but such glorious days (dry weather) always need to be shared. Here’s a few photos capturing my journey home. Enjoy! :cheers

During, rather than before or after :damnfunny I was wearing my sun glasses throughout and standard specs were on my jacket which I moved to the boot for first photos. That's when I must have dropped them. I was too busy enjoying the stunning weather & scenery.

Tow strap hopefully is one of those parts I don't ever have to use and stays a racy feature :thumbsup

Steve.

Was one of those perfect days I wish the rest of you all had joined in... Friday early afternoon there was absolutely nothing on the roads.

Just make sure you don't need the strap tomorrow at knockhill!

Also considering rear tow for my Cup. Where did you get your's and how much did they charge to fit it?

I bought mine 2nd hand from a chap in Germany for £50. Never used. However the parts are available from lotus and I was quoted including vat. These are the two bits that make up the bracket.

A704A0006F …£75.15
A704A0007F.….£15.28

The TRS strap, can be bought in various colours and lengths from Demon Tweeks for around £10-£15.

I got Murray's to fit mine (fiddly job). It's an under tray off, rear wheel and arch off... in through the arch to attach to the rear sub frame. Couple on here have done it themselves.
