Good/Scenic driving roads - NE Scotland

Post by bruceecalder » Fri Feb 03, 2017 9:06 pm

Unless there is some dramatic unforeseen circumstance I will be picking up my Elise at the end of the month and I cannot wait. I am currently stuck on a boat in Nigeria so not much else to think about.

I have a few trips planned in March with the Mrs but wondering if anyone has any favorite roads they like to take the car out on?

A current favorite of mine is a stretch of the coast between Fraserburgh(Broch) and Gardenstown(Gamrie) that is great for some sharp corners and long straights.
It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Thanks for posting the youtube link,i've never seen it before. I drive at least part of these routes most Sundays in the summer. Usually Alford to Lecht to Tomintol etc. The Glenshee route is usually reserved for journey's home from Glasgow or Edinburgh. The only routes that match them are found right up on the north west especially on a Saturday morning after a night camping at Auchmelvicht.

All routes around Strichen are good and the handy thing is, you don't need to go back the way you came, but be very careful, I might be coming the other way.

Well okay, maybe not for an all day epic, but on a bright Sunday morning, there's nobody around but me and you can always get out and stretch your legs up Mormond Hill.
