New Car (pic heavy)

Post by anthonyyule » Fri Jan 06, 2017 1:31 pm

Finally picked up my new car yesterday, which just happened to land on my birthday. Its taken a wee while, and a complete change of direction at one point too - but we eventually specced a rather special looking (I think so at least) Kawasaki Green Elise Cup 250. It wont be to everybody's tastes, but that just makes it all the more appealing to me. I made a concentrated effort to shy away from any option which would add unnecessary weight (which became a bit obsessive in the end), but I'm happy with the end result. No air con/ no stereo/ no carpets/ driving lights, etc. I specced in the optional carbon aero pack which saved a further 10kg and with the 2ubular on its way I should be knocking on the door of 900kg (which some will say is still too heavy - but I'm pretty chuffed with the like-for-like weight savings over an Elise 220S or Cup. I've not driven the car yet as its booked into Polished Bliss to get its Expel jacket fitted 8) - but once that's been applied then Ill be trying to clock up as many miles as I can find the time to between now and RDSF 17 (blatant plug - but its the 20th August 2017 by the way). So far, so good - only slight annoyance is excessive movement/ play in the drivers seat runners which will have to be rectified at 1k service (but I hear that this is a fairly common problem with the carbon buckets so I'm hopeful that Lotus will have a permanent fix for it very soon).

I wouldn't have been brave enough to go for the Kermit colour scheme, but - that looks great 8)

You must have impressive self control if you've not driven it at all yet. :o

Totally fantastic.
One of those in your exact spec but Chrome Orange will do me fine.

Now where did I put that spare £50k...

Nice car. How much more weight could you save if you removed the huge diffuser and spoiler?

Nope. Neither have any practical function in an Elise of this nature.

I rarely use the "stereo" in mine. And it was built before AC was invented :-)

Looks fab Tony! :cheers

Stereo always sounds like an odd thing to spec for S1 owners because ours are so noisey. :thumbsup

And I doubt that S3 is any quieter!!

Or won't be when Tony is done with it.

PS I'm checking out hotels for 18-20 Aug in the Kincardine Castle area ;-)

That's nice. I saw the pic on the MMC FB page when scrolling inanely down and immediately stopped and thought that looked fairly special. Personally, I would have kept the radio #boring git :)

That looks really cool, great colour choice too, well played! Not sure I could have resisted driving it home though lol. Enjoy! :thumbsup

2ubular on order - should make it sound a bit fruitier - especially combined with the TRd air box which MMC fitted for me. I'm aiming t take it down to Komotec for some minor mods once the warranty expires.

Don't go booking anything for Kincardine just yet, Morag and I are working on a few hotel deals which should save folks some money.

It's a real struggle not to go into the garage and take it out for a hoon. Just really need to get the Xpel fitted before I risk any stone chips on the front end and then I'll not be out of it
