Any suggestions, for my own daughter.

Just drowning under a sea of seemingly identical ones. Smaller than 15.6. For running Office.

I've seen a lot like that one for sale but I reckon 32GB isn't enough for Windows 10. Windows 10 also seems to make more sense with a touchscreen. I really like the Lenovo Yogas and have one myself - it's a convertible laptop that folds round into a tablet. I've had mine for 2 years and it's still going strong even with me using it. The entry level one looks pretty good value at £299 - http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/yo ... ga-300-11/ You'll also get 3% cashback on it through Topcashback and if you don't have an account there then here's a nice referral link - http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/neilcurr

You know this starts at 200 quid and ends at 700...

I'll not tell you what mine ended up costing... Just get the basic Yoga 300 and decline any of the extras. If it gets jumped on then it's only £299 down the drain

Seriously I'd avoid the 32gb. Given that your average phone needs more than that a windows laptop has no chance - the first time windows gets a major update you're scuppered. The 170 quid one will also not have a touchscreen so won't feel that great with 10. If spend an extra 120 (with the cashback) I reckon you'll get a few more years out of it.

Bloody secondhand from a broken link on a review site!

Looks good at first glance but have you read the reviews?
My one gripe is that the solid-state hard drive which functionally is 20 GB does not have the capacity to allow an upgrade to Windows 10.

The reviews are a bit patchy. Got the 500gb one, like you said should see her for a couple of years.
