We were out walking near Rannoch Station at the weekend, lovely frost day, with freezing fog gradually clearing. At about 2pm we saw this appear. Which is apparently a rare ice rainbow formed from ice crystals. I'd never heard of such a thing, so will have to do some research.

They are rare Kerry, but I have seen a couple while in the hills during the winter period.

The other picture was obviously taken with a lot more care than mine, by someone who realised how impressive a sight it was. The whole walk was one of impressive pictures, so I was getting a bit numb to the stunning scenery by this stage in the day.

The picture on the Mirror website was taken in Glencoe, which was about 10miles away, this was probably less than 1 mile away. I presume the effect is clearer with a bit more distance. I also took a video, which is really impressive.

Had some pretty good sundogs a week or 2 ago from sighthill. It's nice to see nature put on a wee show from time to time.
