Alerted to this by Mr Smee.
Well since I blew my Project Bonus on a new MTB it seems rude not to try...
But Smee can't make the dates I've got. So it's my first ever solo bike tour. Yikes!
Well I have a puncture repair kit and some mudguards. That ought to cover it yes?!
Start Sunday lunch time at Aviemore station. Overnight at Ballindalloch. Finish at Spey Bay on Monday I hope.
Might post a few updates here if anyone is interested.

Bugger, too short notice for me. Rode sections of the Dava way in the summer, it's easy going, lovely scenery. Watch out for dog sh*t in the grass.
My pal Blair rode speybay to grantown and back again in a day, he is average fitness, drinks way too much, it should be a quite doable Campbell.
Assuming you are talking about this weekend?

I am just back from a week with the family staying at Boat of Garten. I rode most of the first half of the route north from Aviemore on my Cyclocross bike. The surface is pretty good for most of it, helped by being bone dry (until today that is!). Great scenery of course - you'll have a great time, enjoy!
Top tip - make sure your bike has a bell so you don't freak out walkers when you come up behind them

Enjoy, don't forget to take photos, etc
Second the bell recommendation (if saying so isn't suck eggs territory!). Not only the best received and responded to method of warning other users (though you'll still slow won't you

) but as a result also the best for maintaining your own sanity too.

Bought a wee Whyte 805. Basic money by connoisseur standards but I'm v pleased with it. Tell you more after the next 65 miles!
Yes all, despite peer pressure to lose the bell I still have it
I'm about to install a Garmin Edge 200 too.
Just finishing brunch at Potarch Hotel then headed to the start line at Aviemore. Parked in good company...

Brilliant
i really like the 805, tried to get claire into one when we got her 604 last year just so it matched my 129s
I'm just over a year in with my whyte and can't fault it - good choice.

Cheers Clarky. Glad I tested a 90x too. Which I hated. So saved a fortune by downgrading my expectations!
The 805 is growing on me. Albeit 2x11 is taking a lot of getting used to =8-o

I've got the original Whyte PRST-1 from early 2000, amazing bike although getting spares for the frame bearings is becoming a problem.
