Silver VX220 NA

Just picked up my new 2001 VX220 from Craig Moncrieff this morning.
54.5k miles, full history, belts/chains etc all done and a full suspension refresh. Larini sports exhausts and an induction kit. Had a great drive back up to near Dundee, but for some reason it took 3 hours to get back from Craig's and that was with a free flowing Forth Bridge.
So, that's an NA Evora 2010 in Red, and a VX220 NA ins Silver. Think I've got a NA love affair going on here... Not quite an Elise but pretty close.

Looks good apart from the front number plate needing a small adjustment.

Lol, yes, It is quite squiffy as it is held on with velcro as a "smaller than legal" size. There's a full size one in the boot just in case!
Just been out for another blast in it for an hour around Dunkeld / Perth back roads. For a 15 year old car it's great fun and a bloody bargain. It now needs a good wash though...
Got quite a few nice comments from people on the streets - with the roof off you hear the "nice car pal" shouts much more easily.

Looks great!
Get yourself some heavy duty Velcro from Halfords. Squint number plate no more.

Congrats. I miss those crazy angles sometimes, loved our VX. That one looks like it's got some nice visual mods, with the foot plates, turbo spoiler and perhaps a retrim with the embroidered logo.

Thanks everyone, the car is a real blast. It creaks, and squeaks, and rattles a lot but in terms of £ per smile she's an absolute bargain. The Larini exhaust system just makes me giggle - even lazy gearchanges and she gurgles and farts away - it's very addictive.
I was looking for an Elise to take on track ( I'm a total nobby ) and to learn to drive properly, but an un-abused S1 is significantly more in £cost than this lovely VX220 and they seem to be quite bombproof from an engine and gearbox perspective.
It's quite a raw driving experience. The un-assisted steering is beautiful when you're moving and the whole thing is just "back to basics" - which I love. On the greasy back roads around Dunkeld yesterday I was reminded it does not have too many "aids" - like traction control as it got quite a bit squirrely once or twice when accelerating hard out of a corner. Nothing too dramatic as I wasn't driving like an idiot, but enough to remind me to show her some respect.
The Evora feels like a Jag Saloon in comparison it's that much smoother and quieter.
I'm not the slimmest or youngest, in fact, I'm quite a lardy b'stard just now so getting in and out is a pain - so much easier with the roof off, so I'm so glad I live in Scotland and don;t really need the roof anyway!
I don't think she has been re-trimmed, the VX220 logo on the seats seems to be printed on, it's not stitched. However, the interior is spotless with no rips to the side bolsters etc and reflective of her "only" having done 54k miles in 15 years. I can't wait to get her on Knockhill at an SIDC day, I think she'll be a blast.
Thanks everyone and I hope you're all able to get out for at least some time on this gorgeous Autumnal day today. Cheers

Thanks everyone. Yup, I'm very lucky to have two Hethel NA beauties, just never thought opening the garage to jump into a Vauxhall of all things would fill my head with so much joy!
