Need a welder - Edinburgh-ish

Post by Tim S » Tue Sep 20, 2016 5:52 pm

Hi

The bracket on the catalytic converter on my 2006 Focus has rusted through. KwikFit can't repair - only supply a whole new cat for £'00s.

Anyone know of someone in/near Edinburgh who could fabricate and weld on a replacement??

Cheers

Tim

No help to the OP – apologies - but gave me a flashback to when I was a lad just out of school. I had a mate who lashed an old soup can to the exhaust of his Austin 1100 (this wasn't yesterday!) in an attempt to "repair" a hole in the pipe work. Lasted about ½ mile before there was a suspiciously strong burning smell from the vicinity of the repair - obviously used an inferior brand of soup :)
It took him far longer to chip off the resultant mangled mass of molten metal (© Scotty from Star Trek) than to attach the soup can.

Old beer cans worked with jubilee clips, until they fatigued due to the f*cked engine mounts on my old Talbot Samba :blackeye

I'll second jubilee clips!
