Red soft top on an azure s1...?

Post by captain » Fri Aug 26, 2016 10:00 am

My soft top is absolutely goosed. I was just about to buy a new blue one from EP to replace it but have been offered a 2nd hand (but great condition) red soft top.

Strange colour combo, anyone ever seen one before? I cant find any pictures online (which suggest it's not exactly a popular colour combination!).

I cant decide if the contrast will look absolutely awful. I think it probably will. Anyone with mad photoshop skillz fancy knocking up a pic?

Agree it'll look shocking - but you can get dye kits that work well enough if you prep properly. Just dye it black.

Doesn't look great based on this quick Photoshop mockup...

How often would it actually be on the car? If all the time then no because its looks a bit :puke

If only when its training too heavy that you can't drive fast enough to stop it coming in.....then if its cheap why not.....

I kept the S1 in the garage with the roof off and have to say with the exception of wet track days, it was rarely out in the rain.

Looks great. Will encourage you to only use it when absolutely necessary.

Worst I have seen was Walshy's Azure blue S1 with yellow wheels when I went down to Swansea in '99 and did my first road course with him.

I only really use it when driving in the rain, I have the top off most of the time and a shower cap - which is considerably more water tight than my knackered roof!

I've got a hardtop too but I'm going to sell it - I like being able to whip the roof any time, anywhere if the opportunity presents itself.

Nope - blue car with red roof and red seats would look good.

But then beauty is in the eye of the beerholder :thumbsup
