As above Tony Shute developed the Expose as a hillclimb car, used the see through panels as they were lighter than the original 340r bodywork.

Cracking pictures as always John, really loving the Elans.
Can't imagine the V8 Vantage makes a great hill climb car but it still looks great

Just looked at the entry list, and there was indeed a Tony Shute running, though car 35 was supposed to be a Lotus 69F- possibly a last minute change of car?
The Aston looked and sounded lovely (think it was supercharged), and was driven to the track, on track and then home again

Probably last minute change.
Story goes that Tony got the development mule and had the brainwave of making up some lexan panels, after seeing his son's radio controlled cars and how light and tough the bodywork was. Can't remember the exact weight, but it's very very light. And he also discovered the panels were far too expensive to ever make for production.

Wasn't it originally about 580kg thus giving the ptw ratio of 340bhp/ton as per the name?

it really is a lovely 340r... adore the RC car look. Any more photos of said car to see more of the detail?

I've got a few from on-track on the Saturday. It was gone by the time I got up to the paddock at the end of the day as it was an early starting number, so I don't have any close-ups showing the detail. I'm sure there must be lots of photos out there though.

Dont think it has that. TBH the body shell is still in gelcoat never received paint and although it was briefly a rolling chassis its never had brakes/fluids near it.
Doesnt have a chassis number either, just a blank space in the cut out behind where the wheel would be.
