Edinburgh new speed limits from 1st Aug 2016

Post by Sanjøy » Fri Jul 29, 2016 2:49 pm

More for those driving into work on Monday. The new city centre 20mph zones kick in on Sunday and penalties will be enforced if you break the limit!! e.g. Lothian Road and Charlotte Square are 20mph zones.

In my car 30 is an easy cruise in third at low revs.... 20 means 2nd gear and higher revs as car ain't comfortable in 3rd at 20.. Higher revs more freaking emissions! :blackeye that across the city, all day every vehicle= stupid? Fair enough in built up residential estates and round schools hospitals etc but to blanket the city is daft in my opinion

Probably little or no difference to accident stats but speeding fine revenue will go up. Pollution will increase - demonise the car, push the green agenda and before you know it congestion charge or ban on private transport. Sigh.

Meanwhile, Scotrail will allow trains to idle for hours in Waverley Station, adding to the pollution
