Will i get my lotus keyring back?

Post by PhilA » Tue Oct 17, 2006 6:13 pm

Lo.
Heres a poll ;)

My car was recovered to the local garage. My keepsake was to be my keyring, as I dont know when I will own another Lotus coz i should get a house and i had saved 6 years to own and drive one... and enjoyed every moment of driving the car - and had this keyring all the time :)
Sad? Maybe, but means alot to me.

Went to see the car the friday after the accident - all present and correct.
Car got written off so went to collect my stuff from the car after the SIDC trackday.
Tax Disc - check.
Bits out of the boot - check.
Lotus Keyring - what? eh? wheres it gone? Theres the key and the alarm control in the ignition - wheres the leather bit with the lotus badge?!

Sooo angry that someone had violated my car and stole the most precious thing to me out of it!!!

Monday morning i called the Insurance guy and he didnt take it. Probably some young lad in the garage took it, he said.

Called up garage manager. He said he hoped it would turn up - leave it with him for a week. Ok then.

I Called monday. "sorry, i forgot". Grrrrr.
He asked people - they didnt know where it was.

I pointed out to him what a good story it would make to the local rag that u cant trust this garage with ur stuff.
"Aye, just u do that, and get the police in too for a 2 bob keyring!"

Me. "One of ur employees stole it!"
Manager. "Yes i know that!!"
Me. "I dont care who took it. I just want it back. I will come to the pumps on wednesday and see if it has turned up."
Manager. "I will send out a memo and ask it to be on my desk by wednesday and will let u know."

So, will it be there?

why not call the local rag to tell them anyway.... and while your at it.... you could always suggest there were other things which went 'missing' and the manager didn't care!!

at the very least it would p*ss them off having some journo calling and implying that they were a bunch of thieves.....

Phil
You have to be absolutely sure. You had a fairly big shunt, are you certain that it was there when the car came to rest? It couldn't have perhaps been ripped off the fob and lodged under the seat or summit?
I would have thought that if there were theiving b@stards about, they would have also half inched some of your other gear.

Captain Koons^^^above^^^: The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any of the slopes were gonna get their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
