Scottish Elises

Planned a weekend away with some college / school friends and few months ago for this weekend. 10 of us have taken a hotel in the Lakes for the weekend and was quite looking forward to the drive down too...

But I had to put the Elise into Craig's to get it ready for the following weekend and the Golf has, I'm fairly sure, just done its head gasket (it's still going fine but there is mayo on the filler cap and, well you know how there is a smell?). So now it'll either be a rental or the family bus, both of which will be hateful.

I need to stop being such a bloody miser and buy a proper car...

get a sniff check done on the golf, if you do lots of stop start journeys in cold weather, doesnt that cause mayo sometimes.

How many miles have you done since I sold you it??? It may be 100K miles but it's not a kseries so still unexpected

My golf always has mayo on the cap as the wifes journey to work is short (its doubly worse on cold days).

A decent run at the weekend takes care of it. I was paranoid about it for ages but it looks like it's a case of TADTS.

I'd listen to the apey one before writing off using the Golf - quick sniffer check first as he says.

i have lost count of cars of mine that where mayo has been discovered, and the wee optimistic lift my heart gets when someone like you, who knows more about cars than me, reminds me that HGF is not the only potential cause.
