Has anyone ever worked as a postie ?. I have an interview next week so any feedback on the job would be useful.

Our Postie is pretty good, leaves a note when he leaves a parcel in our safe place, says hello when he sees you, and doesn't seem to mind the awful weather. One of my mates has worked for Royal Mail for years, seems to be not too bad an employer.

I've a mate who'se been a postie for years. Up every morning at 0300/0400, but early finish too so just what you get used too. Like everything else more and more is being asked of staff apparently and it's a hard shift but keeps you fit. Although starting to take its toll on his old bones and he's had increasingly frequent back and hip problems from years of humphing heavy mail bags about. He's had spells working in the sorting office when he's not been fit for deliveries.
I think some areas have the same postie doing double rounds now with letters on foot and parcels packages by van either before or after.

Our last postie was brilliant, bought him a bottle of whisky each year, but this one is a miserable barsteward.

I'm not surprised. Same is probably true for all such jobs up here. I applied for a job picking daffodils only to be told I didn't have the necessary experience !

I had a similar experience when I was redundant years ago, I applied to Halfords, Matalan and loads of shops, dustman etc and despite handing in CV's personally I never even got responses from anyone, it's very frustrating! I hope you get the postie job and it's enjoyable!
