Spotted it in last night's "Tele"

It really is a transformation. Didn't realise it was £1 billion project, but it is massive!!

At one point, I was late collecting my brother in law from the train station as I didn't know how to get there!

£1 billion is a pretty round number, as the report as it will be delivered ahead of schedule and on budget, I wonder what the actual cost was supposed to be.
I also like that the person in the article who thinks that the project is a waste of money thinks that it should be spent on jobs instead. I guess that's rather than the robotics that are doing all this building work..

Haha, actually, I am sad enough to have photos of about 26 of these various layouts I am hoping that the Council will offer me loads of money for them when they try to figure out which layout was best

It has been interesting seeing the new V&A taking shape. It was the only bit I was initially aware of being built. Still can't get my head round Dundonians queuing up to go into a museum tho, so hope the visitors appear

Demolition on a major scale certainly seems to have improved Dundee from when I was at Uni there.

The eyesores that were Tayside House, Hilton, Olympia, and the Train Station will not be missed. I think it's a vast improvement already

Oh, and ref the road layout changes....my old mum found herself on the bridge fife-bound unintentionally one day

Great work Jim ! superb shots. Dundee is a changed place these days it really is on the up. Good universities and the growing number of small business tech start-ups have really changed the landscape. Real buzz about the place.

Hey Jim , with the airport corridor over the area you are shooting do you have to work with ATC to get a gap in traffic for the shots ?

I cycle past this area in the morning too sometimes, path is always changing too its like a maze.

Sort of. I tend to fly that bit, from Broughty Ferry Castle to Errol, right down Dock St and Riverside and over the airport and ask them if I can do it at 1500ft. Unless they have anything big(ish) coming in then they are usually dealing with training flights or folk flying in a circuit at 1000ft so they accommodate me easily enough. If they are really quiet, I may ask to do it at 1000ft (doesn't really make taking pics any easier tho) and if they are really busy (very rare!) I will do it at 2000ft and stay out of their way. All very seamless tho.

I don't think the city planners have really done themselves any favours over the years though. Buildings like the Greenmarket car park and tax office, the Apex hotel, the Holiday Inn and Gellatly St car park you see as you come off the bridge from Fife are all of a contemporary style that will look like eye sores in maybe 20 years imo.

I do like that they have opened the area up to the back of the Caird Hall though, if they can sort out routes down from Castle St / Crighton St, this new area could make a nice market place or something.
