drove a rental car two weeks ago on a business in France, all in french which i can 'get by' with the jist looks like a 45 euro fine if i pay within 45 days. the issue being hte cleitn rented the car for me and its in his name, ie he got the ticket. Whast the scoop? Guessing I pay and say sorry...

If your client is French then there is no choice but to pay - I suggest you pay quickly and apologise - I am sure it won't be a big deal

The client company is French but it was a Scottish guy, still very much a client thanks! Consumed a fair bit of beer that evening on my cars!

What I meant was that if the client was resident in France then they would not be able to ignore the ticket; I guess on a rental you cannot ignore the ticket anyway as they just hose your credit card Anyway, so long as everyone gets paid, all will be well.

I had a similar 45 euro fine on a French hire car that I hired through Diageo.

A couple of guys I know had similar tickets, just ignored them and had not heard any more about it about 7 months later so I am not sure how much trouble they go to with UK Hire Car drivers but I did not want to the risk of any hassle if they then approached Diageo so I just paid up well within the 45 days and never heard another peep.......
