Bad day in the garage

Post by Kinger » Wed Dec 30, 2015 4:24 pm

Had just finished machine polishing the S1 ( OK, what else do you do on a day like this when the M In Law in staying). Car absolutely gleaming a feeling quite chuffed with myself. So decide to remove the old stone chip protection on the rear wheel arches and fit new ones. Bottom piece came off no problem with the help of a hair drier, started on the Top piece, just about there and had that "Oh Sh-t" moment when a piece of paint about 2" x 1" came off with the protection film.

I'm not sure if it would be possible to get a local paint repair on the area or if it would be easier to just but a fit black protection film.

Any Thoughts !!!

I would just fit the black protectors as you said. Car is dark enough for it not to make much of a difference[THUMBS UP SIGN]

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

That would give me sleepless nights Graham.

I would have to get that professionally filled in and resprayed before I fitted the protector shield.

Oh no... I'm not a fan of black protectors. I would be getting it painted sadly

Sorry to see this, looks nice and shiny! Likewise, I'd be having it repaired too.

Hi Steve,

Solved the problem, took it out for a good run today and now can't see any damage. Pretty slippy as lots of ice around but great fun with a few butt clenching moments thrown in.

Was going to wash it when I got home but hose frozen solid, so it stay that way until the temp rises enough for the hose to thaw out.

Speedo stopped working, that too will have to wait until the temp rises a bit as well, otherwise great day out.

Good effort Graham.
It shouldn't be a big job to repaint that.
I was sliding about myself today, don't usually take the car out in these conditions but needed it purely on transportation grounds. Will be washed on Tuesday before with the thought of salt corroding it keeping me awake at nigh

Can't help thinking if you ran your finger along the waste line it wouldn't look too far off this....
