Project Cars
Project Cars
Santa brought me a PS4 so I'll be getting my grubby hands on a copy for project cars shortly.. Anyone on here use it for winter driving fix? Had a copy for my mac book pro but it struggled to run it when more than one car on track but fair enjoyed lapping around in the various machines available in time attack! Shame there's no Exige tho.

Yea its a great game. Everything is modifiable in the set up and takes a while until you have a set up to suit you. Great for the OCD in you.
You have the option of starting at the very start of your "career" in carting but have to say I found that disappointing compared with the rest of the game. I would skip that and join at the next step up.

Re: Project Cars
Picked up an XBone a couple of months ago, and got Project Cars a few weeks back.
Graphics aren't as good as the likes of Forza 6 (the cockpit view in the rain in Forza is impressive, as are the physics when driving through puddles on the track).
It does seem though, that the handling can be made to be far more 'realistic' in Project Cars - Although it becomes hard to drive using the controller, and a steering wheel becomes a better option.

Re: Project Cars
I've been faffing with it for a while now... The geek in me invested in a wheel and it's surprisingly realistic... I've picked the z4 gt3 car on Nurburgring gp track and seem to have bottomed out my laptimes with the default set up. A few tweaks have seen a couple of seconds off but the car is getting very twitchy and snappy and hard to drive without the TC and ABS on the real setting..

Re: Project Cars
I haven't taken the plunge on a wheel for this yet. I bought it based on loads of rave reviews but it's very difficult (read impossible) to have much enjoyment with the sticks. You'll be disappointed if you don't own a wheel.
Re: Project Cars
Uh, I opened this thread expecting to find stories of folks car projects / restorations / builds etc.... but instead its about a computer game
..... actually, just jealous I don't have the time to get on the PS these days

Tonight's arrival - Bought secondhand as a package from a bloke in a petrol station car park about an hour & a half ago (in fairness, I'd been in negotiation with him for a couple of days, after debating on whether to waste money on such a toyFerg wrote:I haven't taken the plunge on a wheel for this yet. Lots of tweaking ahead with positioning / sensitivity settings, but on the 20 minute blast at Oulton I tested it on, the wheel / seat transformed the game

It also folds up with the wheel / pedals attached, so easy to stash in a cupboard.

Re: Project Cars
First chance ive had since Christmas to give it ago last night. You have to be supper smooth with the controller very progressive with power , straight line braking ,slow on the power over hills in fact i cant get the power down as car goes light but all in all a blast racing Caterhams, will set up my wheel and report back. Unfortunately most of my PS time is spent playing little big world which i can highly recommend if you have a drug habit.[Which i dont]

Nice setup! I have a seat too but need XB compatible wheel
I turned to the dark side after Sony ditched DLNA support.

Re: Project Cars
That seat looks excellent - mainly as it folds away so well.Fluoxetine wrote:Tonight's arrival - Bought secondhand as a package from a bloke in a petrol station car park about an hour & a half ago (in fairness, I'd been in negotiation with him for a couple of days, after debating on whether to waste money on such a toyFerg wrote:I haven't taken the plunge on a wheel for this yet. Is there any adjustability in it for size - i.e. could a child fit in it and reach the pedals? Or is it a big boys toy only?!?!

Cheers

I have a playseat and G29 which I use, really feels awesome. If you get the chance try it with occulus, it blew me away, it was like sitting on track driving the car. As an aside Ferg, currys were doing the G290 for £159 yesterday. I have the G29 and it's worth the money imo.

Re: Project Cars
It felt pretty comfy during the brief shot I had in it - the bloke I bought it from said he completed a 4 hr endurance race online using it, and stepped out with no backache (he was 6ft +).Alistair wrote:

It adjusts via the straps on the side, and also has an adjustable lumbar support - the manual reckons it's usuable from 8 years and up / 3ft 11, so potentially kid friendly.

A better wheel / pedal box would be nice (the 458 spider isn't force feedback), but that can come later. The 3 month old seat / wheel / copy of Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbone for £115 all in seemed a decent deal, even if it is an extravagant big boys toy...

I did not need to see that.....StiflerMR2 wrote:I have a playseat and G29 which I use, really feels awesome.
