Chris Harris on Cars - LaFerrari v Porsche 918 v McLaren P1

Post by james.beaumont1 » Fri Nov 20, 2015 2:07 pm

Just so others are aware, there is a guy in America who has done a comparison of these three plus the Veyron Super Sports and Huarya. http://youtu.be/bcJ59T1crbM Amazed the 918 was quicker on the 1/4 than the SS - that's progress!

Then there is Paul Bailey who owns all 3 who got quite different results from a drag race - http://youtu.be/H43_lkBkGkg

Id have the p1 too. Amazing video and brilliant to see how excited and child like they all are at the cars.

Sent from a mobile device
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

The video reminded me of the great time that I had on this years Frolic. Cars are obviously a good bit slower, but we were all still having fun too. The Elise even gets a mention in the video and it looks an awesome track.

Brilliant, the stuff dreams are made of and so closely matched. Would have liked to have compared the Ferrari test drivers time with CH.

Started watching via Sky BB at 360 and small screen, then switched over to Satellite BB at 1080HD and full screen.

Greta viewing.

Before watching I would have chosen the Porsche.

Now if I had to chose just one it'd be the P1.
VX220 2.2 - Gone
BMW 335d Touring F31- Fastest car on the road
MINI Cooper 1.5- More fun than the BMW

Enjoyed that :)

The Porsche doesn't really do much for me and I was keen to want the Ferrari to be best, but at the end it would be the P1 for me.

Having been lucky enough to see all 3 up close and personal, the Porsche is the best built and arguably the prettiest, especially in martini colours, the Ferrari is the most expensive looking and the McLaren the most purposeful and least polished (it was the development car, the one in the video).
I do wonder why Mclaren keep using the same development car for all the tests, I was under the impression that it wasn't production finished quality as it was the test mule. Maybe they have rebuilt it to finished standard. That said it is still a stunning car in carbon and the one I would have.

P1 OOV is on its second carnation Mike,

It was stripped back to the chassis and re-built after a number of test were carried out on it.

That's the best vid ive seen for a long time and would pick the P1 every single time.

P1 for me,... from a driving POV. From an aesthetics POV, the Ferrari does it for me.

Great to watch that video, of those mega cars, and hear the elise being mentioned when it comes to handling. 8)
