We (well, you) was robbed ...

Post by robin » Mon Oct 19, 2015 7:51 am

Didn't catch all of the game yesterday, but saw the latter half of each half as it were.

For once Scotland genuinely unlucky to lose in the end with a dodgy penalty awarded against them; that said they probably benefited from at least one dodgy penalty earlier in the game so probably fair in the big picture, but to lose in the closing seconds of the game was really heart breaking for them and those of us watching. To steal the ball from the Aussies and run through them like that was truly spectacular - I expect there will be some Aussie arse kicking going on wherever they are today!!

Cheers,
Robin

Crackin game and such a shame in the end. Probably a fair result in the end but hard to take coming so close.

They played well and that was a cracking intercept.

Laidlaw got nineteen of the points total, but the other decider would have been the Conversion that he missed, I think it hit the post.

I watched with young James. Inspirational. Not least the strength of character to shake all the (dirty thieving) Aussie hands at the end ;-)

To top it all the referee ran off like a scared rabbit without shaking the players hands, which looked to be a complete act of cowardice.

The referee was a disgrace. Making the mistakes is understandable to a point but running away was pathetic; Gavin Hastings summed it up very well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p035krs0

I was driving back from Scotland yesterday during the game so had it on the wireless. At the 78th minute I lost the DAB signal but Ben and I assumed we'd won so were singing Flower of Scotland at the top of our lungs. Took about 15 minutes to get the signal back and we were so gutted to find out we'd lost I had to pull into Knutsford services.

We've attended every Scottish group match and had tickets for Twickers but had to sell them on. The atmosphere at the matches has been fantastic.

Gavin Hastings was seathing on R5. He said if he ever meets the ref he'll tell him exactly what he thinks of him more so for the way he scuttled off the pitch rather than the decision. Very poor show and not very rugby.

Whats the bets he uses one of your "speeding" excuses for why he did it ? :damnfunny :cheers

Gutted - still - the finest moment of the Scottish Rugby history taken from us......... (WTF was that line out, and why did the TMO miss the late challenge on Hogg)

Anyway, could be worse - could have been French.... :sheeplove :sheeplove :sheeplove

Actually do not blame the ref for his decision, it was slowed down and analysed for ten minutes and it was still not established that it was a deliberate offside move.

Scotland had a dodgy decision in their favour earlier, so it really evened out. However as has been pointed out at the end of the match, the referees actions after the end were pathetic.

Ignoring the rights and wrongs of the penalty award, I still don't understand why he ran off the pitch ... I doubt he was scared (I don't follow rugby but I don't think that the players have ever attacked a referee) ... maybe he needed a poo?

Cheers,
Robin

JUST NOW : Official from World Rugby - it was NOT a penalty for Australia...should have been a Scrum with an Australian Put-In.
