The new MOT history check website is live
Seems the powers that be are continuing the simplifying of some motoring related tasks - the new plate retention online service is excellent as is this MOT check site;
https://mot-history.net
Checked a load of my old cars, most still going and some surprises (My old S2 exige is on over 100k miles).

Re: The new MOT history check website is live
That's great, off to see how many / if any of my discarded cars are still going.

Re: The new MOT history check website is live
No match for N1 TUT or N3 TUT.

Re: The new MOT history check website is live
N3 works fine for me. Mentions your wheel arch liners. Checking various cars for sale also yields some interesting results, big thread on pistonheads as well has also thrown up some interesting ones - m3 with a fail for the cracked subframe being sold as with MOT as an example. Definitely helps with the used car buying game!
Re: The new MOT history check website is live
Weird, still gives no match. Nothing for N111 TUT or S111 YTT either.

Re: The new MOT history check website is live
Tut, do you know the original reg numbers of the cars rather than your personal ones, or are those all still active plates?
It doesn't seem to work completely, one of my old cars had a fail in my ownership and was then fixed and presented for a re-test which it passed, but the history on the website looks like it was run for a year with no MOT!
Interesting looking at a low miles mk1 MX5 we had, which was rust around the edges. Within 2 years of selling it EVERY MOT for the following 4 years has advisories about rust on all wheel arches and sills (out with prescribed areas!) as well as rust on the cam belt area (there was no cover). Seems like the new owner bought it and didn't do anything to sort the little issues that stopped it being a great car!
My old Punto HGT looks like it expired last year, and failed on 'excessively heavy steering' - the electronic power steering was failing when I had it 5+ years previously and was an £80 quid refurb part to fix!
All in all, it seems that people really don't fix cars!
Also, our old Vx has still only done 25k miles.

My old elise has only been doing about a thousand miles a year since I sold it. One year it did two miles.

No way Mike, a serial car buyer like you you should know that's not rightMike Scib wrote:That site has been about for a few years now JJ.

It's been possible to check MOT history before online but not with just the number plate and the make. You had to have the V5 or MOT number before, meaning you couldn't just check any car like you can now.
Re: The new MOT history check website is live
Haha. Forgot you needed the V5 or MOT number. Thought there was something different but couldn't work out what.
Been slacking as not bought a car for at least 6 months now!!

Re: The new MOT history check website is live
Only slightly annoying thing, is that the site no longer lists the name / address of the testing station - Quite interesting to see which part of the country your old car ends up inMike Scib wrote:Haha.
